Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter - Forever, Ive Been Being Born LP NEW RSD BF 2025
NEW. SEALED.
Southern Lord
RSD BF 2025
First album in 14 years from gothic-americana singer-songwriter Jesse Sykes and her band : The Sweet Hereafter Please see bio for more info on artist. This album is our attempt at creating elegant folk and sometimes ragged, cosmic heart renderings, full of eulogies and laments. Our sound remains familiar enough, yet unrecognizable at timesÑweÕve gotten older and wearierÑthe music more fragile. Recorded in fits and starts, it took on a life of its own. I believe the soul comes and goes of its own volition and this record is a testament to this. When we started recording I remember saying, Òplay the songs as if the edge of a butterfly wing was brushing against your cheek in the dark, while holding a small child.Ó I wanted to connote tenderness and a state of grace in the wake of resolutionÑpaying hhomage to the knowledge of a menacing undertone existing in the collective psyche that I could feel manifesting at the time we wrote the songs. I think the delay in releasing this record has been a blessing, as the lyrics seem more poignant to me now as the world shares in collective crisis. It is with great pleasure and humility that we bring you, Forever, IÕve Been Being Born. (featuring Marissa Nadler) Listen in the dark. ÒOh my gentle chaperone, this is where I stay, but this is not my homeÓÑ- J.Sykes
